A strong emote set should feel varied without looking disconnected. For Logic, that meant designing two complete character families around one shared visual language: a dragon and a wolf, each performing the same 12 themes and expressions.

The result was a coordinated collection of 24 custom emotes. Viewers could recognize the same emotional beats across both creatures, while each character kept its own silhouette and personality. A focused black-and-red palette tied the full set back to Logic’s wider stream identity.

The Creative Brief: Two Creatures, One Emote Language

The central idea was simple and unusually effective: build 12 concepts for a dragon, then reinterpret those same concepts as a wolf. This created a mirrored system rather than two unrelated batches of artwork.

That structure gave Logic more ways to communicate with the community while keeping the full collection visually consistent. Whether a viewer encountered the dragon or the wolf first, the relationship between the two sets remained immediately clear.

The first project preview, shared on January 24, 2025, established the paired dragon-and-wolf direction.

Designing a Consistent Set of 24 Custom Emotes

Consistency matters at every stage of custom emote design. The characters need to remain identifiable from one expression to the next, but repeated poses can make a large collection feel mechanical. The paired format gave the artwork a useful framework: preserve the emotional intent of each theme while adapting the pose, face and creature-specific features.

The dragon and wolf therefore work as counterparts, not duplicates. Their shared expressions make the system easy to understand, while differences in anatomy give each version its own energy. Ears, snout shapes, wings, horns, paws and body language all help the reactions read naturally for the creature being shown.

From Concept Sketches to Readable Reactions

The January preview established the full idea before the artwork moved into cleaner line work. That progression made it possible to review the collection as a system instead of treating every emote as an isolated illustration.

Clean line art brought the shared themes into a consistent visual system before color was applied.

At emote scale, clarity is part of the design. Expressions, hands and important silhouette details must still make sense when the artwork is reduced to the size used in chat. The refinement stage focused on preserving that readability without stripping away the character of the illustrations.

From Color Exploration to a Black-and-Red Identity

The color process began by testing the dragon set in a warm gold and yellow treatment. That study made it easier to evaluate highlights, facial readability, and how small expressive details would hold together across a complete character family.

The gold dragon study tested lighting, expression, and chat-scale readability before the final shared palette was selected.

The wolf sketches then translated the same reaction themes into a different silhouette. Comparing both creatures at this stage helped preserve a shared emotional language without making their anatomy feel interchangeable.

The wolf sketch study adapted the same reactions through canine ears, muzzle shapes, paws, and body language.

The final black-and-red direction brought both sets into one recognizable identity. Dark values provide a stable base, while red accents focus attention on eyes, gestures, and expressive details. Because the finished palette runs across both creatures, the dragon and wolf clearly belong to the same brand world.

Why the Mirrored Emote System Works

Large custom emote packs can lose cohesion when every piece follows a different visual idea. Logic’s collection takes the opposite approach. The same 12 themes create a repeatable language, and the dragon-and-wolf pairing adds variety inside that structure.

The completed delivery included 24 custom emotes: 12 dragon reactions and the same 12 themes reimagined with a wolf. Together they form a flexible collection that feels broad enough for everyday community interaction and focused enough to remain unmistakably part of Logic’s brand.

This project is a useful example of how a clear design system can make a large emote package feel more intentional. Instead of adding variety through unrelated ideas, the collection builds it through character, expression and a carefully controlled visual language.
