Requirements

  • Windows PC
  • Spotify Desktop app installed
  • OBS Studio (or any streaming app that supports browser sources)
  • StreamSpell Music Widget app (included with your purchase)

Step 1: Install and Open the App

After your purchase, you'll receive the StreamSpell Music Widget installer. Run it and launch the app — it opens a small window where you control everything.

Step 2: Open Spotify Desktop and Play a Song

Make sure Spotify Desktop is open and actively playing a track. The app reads directly from Spotify Desktop on Windows — the web player is not supported in this version.

Step 3: Customize Your Widget

Eight examples of how the StreamSpell Spotify Widget could look like with color customization.
Fully customizable — pick any color, gradient, or let the album cover set the palette.

Inside the app, adjust the widget to match your brand:

  • Colors — background, accent, and text color
  • Layout & Fonts — adjust sizing and typography
  • Background type:
    • Dynamic Gradient — colors update automatically based on the song's album cover
    • Manual Gradient — create your own gradient
    • Solid — single solid background color

Changes reflect live in your preview — no need to restart OBS.

Step 4: Copy Your Widget URL

Once the widget looks right, click Copy URL inside the app. This gives you the browser source URL to add to your streaming software.

Step 5: Add It to OBS Studio (or Any Streaming App)

In OBS Studio:

  1. Go to Sources → + → Browser
  2. Paste your widget URL into the URL field
  3. Set Width to 400 and Height to 120 (or adjust to your layout)
  4. Click OK and position the widget anywhere on your scene

Works the same way in Streamlabs, Meld Studio, StreamElements, Twitch Studio, XSplit, and any app that supports browser sources.

Important: Keep the App Running

  • The widget only works while StreamSpell Music Widget is running
  • Closing the window doesn't quit the app — it stays active in the system tray
  • You can minimize to tray and keep streaming without the window open

Troubleshooting

Widget not updating? Check that the app is still running in the system tray and that Spotify Desktop is open and playing audio.

Widget disappeared? Closing the window keeps it in the tray — reopen from there if needed.

Spotify not detected? This version is built for Spotify Desktop on Windows. The web player is not supported.

Pro Tips

  1. Match your stream theme — use the Dynamic Gradient for automatic color matching, or set manual colors to fit your overlay palette.
  2. Place near your webcam or lower thirds — keeps the widget readable without blocking gameplay.
  3. Leave it running in the tray — it uses minimal resources and updates automatically as tracks change.
